Anne Katsas started Port Estate Planning, LLC in early 2012. Prior to opening her firm, Anne spent twelve years working in the Private Client Group at Ropes & Gray LLP, one of Boston’s premier law firms. Anne started her career at Ropes as an Associate in 1999, and became a Senior Attorney in 2007. Throughout her legal career, Anne has focused exclusively on estate planning.
In addition to being a lawyer, Anne is also a wife, the mother of two young children, and a daughter who is playing an active role in the care of her elderly mother. Anne lost her father to a rare blood disease in 2001 and her father-in-law to ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in 2009. Through her professional and personal experiences, Anne has developed a deep understanding not only of the legal and tax aspects of estate planning, but of the personal and emotional ones as well.
Anne received her J.D. degree from Harvard Law School in 1999 and her B.A. degree from Yale in 1989. Between college and law school, Anne was a Foreign Service Officer for the United States Department of State; she served as a Consular Officer in Mumbai, India and as a Political and Administrative Officer in Brussels, Belgium. Anne also spent a year teaching English in Kagoshima City, Japan. Anne grew up in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, and attended The Park School in Brookline and The Winsor School in Boston. She lives with her family in Newburyport, Massachusetts.
